PROGRESSIVES WILL NOT USE McCONNELL'S HYPOCRITICAL ANTI-GAY STANCE WHILE HE'S IN THE CLOSET AGAINST HIM IN ATTACK ADS

>

With Kentuckians growing more and more restless with their senator's role in perpetuating the Bush Regime's pointless "Stay The Course" agenda in Iraq, Mitch McConnell is facing a tough re-election battle next year. This has been exacerbated as it becomes more and more known that he has been a closeted gay man for decades while pushing an anti-gay agenda. He must be breathing a sign of relief today as the progressive group Americans United for Change has made its plans known that they will be tackling McConnell only on his role in advancing the Bush Regime's war policies.

They are launching a six-figure television ad campaign in Kentucky during the April congressional recess that will leave no one in Kentucky unclear about Senate Minority Leader McConnell's role as the chief  obstructionist when it comes to most of Congress' desire to move away from the unpopular Stay the Course stance of the Bush Regime. The spot, which makes no allusions to McConnell's sexual status or the fact that he was kicked out of the military for molesting young soldiers, primarily show him making false statements on the Senate floor about progress in Iraq. The statements are contrasted to hard reality-- statistics and footage of American war casualties and chaos in Iraq.

"The fact is we're already on the road to victory in Iraq," McConnell is quoted as saying. Less than a third of Americans still buy this line of crap. At the end, the ad urges voters to call McConnell's office and, "Tell Mitch McConnell: Stop blocking change on Iraq." Take a look:

UPDATE: McCONNELL, BUSH, CHENEY, McCAIN... PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF THEIR PATHETIC SONG AND DANCE ROUTINE. LESS THAN A THIRD BELIEVE A WORD THEY SAY

McConnell and his pals can bleat about how the war is going well, how victory is just around the corner, how you could stroll happily down a street in some lovely unnamed Baghdad neighborhood arm in arm with Bill Bennett, how Iraq is some kind of progressive young democracy fighting for the right to have WalMarts... but the jig is up.
A new Gallup poll shows that only 29 percent of Americans believe the Iraq escalation is making the situation better. Another 43 percent say the escalation is "not making much difference," and 22 percent say it is making conditions in Iraq worse.

In addition, fully 80 percent of Americans "endorse a requirement that U.S. troops meet strict readiness criteria before being deployed to Iraq," while 60 percent "favor a timetable for withdrawing all U.S. troops from Iraq by fall 2008."

McConnell is a symbol for all that is wrong with an out-of-touch politician who has been in Washington entirely too long. It's time for him to be working directly for K Street lobbyists and stop pretending he's representing the people of Kentucky.

Why are Dems afraid to act like the RepubliCONs??? They would be all over any gay Democrat as the Dems should be all over McConnell for his hypocritical language. Any gay person who goes about to make it harder on other gays needs to be OUTED. McConnell is gay and that is where the party should start. You can't be gay and then run down other gay people.

Are you sure he's gay? Can we have some proof? This is the man who got the horrible Jim Bunning reelected by insinuating that his opponent was gay- I mean "limp-wristed". As a Kentuckian I sure would like to see him gone.

He and Bush should plan their summer vacation for a stroll around the beautiful streets of Baghdad.
I'm embarrassed to be a Kentuckian with McConnell in office.

Well whether he is gay or not, who cares. But what I see is the Rpublicans are killing our US Troops. The evidence is clearl, they are US Troop killers. They have done more damage to our US Military than any administration in history. They NEVER did support the troops at all, just used them like a dirty dish rag. Look at the medical neglect over the past 6 years. And they are the ones that were in the majority for 7 years. That speaks volumes.

Republicans are troop killers.

it would be ironic for the party of gay rights to use gay as an offensive tactic in a campaign. Not that im a fan of Bitch Mconnel or anything

"The Party" will never use it. And being gay is hardly an offense to me. In fact, I'm happy to tell you that I am gay and that as soon as I figured it out-- I was living in Europe at the time-- I flew home to America to tell my family in person. McConnell's "offense" is not that he's gay or even that he's in the closet-- I would never out a gay person in the closet just because they were seeking privacy-- but rather, because he has a long and powerfully homophobic record. That's the only issue here.

Mitch McConnell has made a career of sucking up to Big Money and Big Biz, while" serving" a relatively poor state. He deserves whatever fate befalls him. I don't approve of attacks on politicians based on their personal lives, unless they are hypocrites who deserve it. I don't know the facts about McConnell, my dislike for him is based only on his record on policies. But this is a potentially big story.

Why do you think that he's gay? Did he come on to you? I think his wife and three kids might disagree with you.

Progressives will not........ Huh? Whaaaaaah?

Someone must have been thinking with their typing fingers. I had to read this headline several times before it made sense.

How about "Progressives will not use McConnell's hypocritical anti-gay stance AGAINST HIM IN ATTACK ADS while he's in the closet."

Once I understood that, my reaction was "Why the hell not?"

you better be able to prove it. hes married with three kids and has a good record. I would be very cautious of making statments like this. I doubt you can afford the legal action.

Proof? Since when was proof needed to attack a republican? By the time this allegation is proven false, the damage will have already been done. I also find it amusing that the left is always "pro" gay, but seems to love using it as an attack tactic to those on the right as a huge insult. It's just more of the usual lefty hypocrisy.

I hope all you "progressives" here at this shit can understand the blogger who wrote this McConnell fantasy did 20 years in prison for child molestation himself. Perhaps the rehab isn't taking since he's still fantasizing about molesting young people. McConnell who is married with three kids was given a honorable discharge from the Army for optic neuritis. Still waiting how this translates to gay predator.

Does something smell?

Oh yeah it's all of you. Just remember - sheep get sheared, the starts here losers.

Of course, if you want to play with this, you can say...

MORE AMERICANS THINK THE SURGE IS HELPING RATHER THEN HURTING

This guy must be outed. You can't have it both ways. I am so sick of criminals trying to rip our throat out when they get caught. Criminals used to try and hide and stay in the shadows but not these Republicans. They will lie, cheat and steal right up to being taken off to jail. Out his ass so the people of Kentucky know they have a gay Senator, nothing wrong with that but they need to know since he demonizes other gay people. Plus he's a war criminal!

Just read through the comments. It is amazing how hateful and sick liberals are. So out of touch with reality. It really is a mental illness.

"You can't be gay and then run down other gay people."

That might actually be one of the funniest things I've read in a long time.

How did this turn into a discussion about whether or not he is gay? Who cares about that? This is about misrepresenting the situation in Iraq to his constituents and the rest of the American people. It's about the lies, fully supported by the Republicans, that got us into this war in the first place.

The most ironic statements of all, that really made me laugh out loud, where the ones that were flaming Democrats as being liars...a realm long dominated by Republicans and their right-wing media cronies and Fox News. They even gave us an new term for it...."Swift Boating".

Sen. McConnell's sexual preference has been known to his closest friends for years. I know the man, and find him to be kind and generous, though we have differences of opinion. I can't speak for his wife and children.

Bottom line - Do not make allegations with zero proof. Such an act is repugnant regardless of which side you are on. I do not care for Mitch, yet I am disturbed by such slander. Take the high road and elevate the debate.

Most Republicans active in the party's infrastructure have known for years that their gay-hating party is full of gays. Before Bill Mahr outed Ken Melhman on Larry King, many of the party's leaders have lost many nights of sleep wondering when George 'Teabag' Bush's gay escapades at Yale would become public knowledge. Not to put too fine a point on it, as a freshman, W. loved to give head. Here's a scoop for you: a book is going to be released shorlty after Bush leaves politics that will blow the lid off of his 'double' life.

It's funny that the the guy a few comments down mentioned Mitch McConnell getting discharged from the military due to optic neuritis, a completely treatable ailment.

He may not know that Democratic president Harry Truman was nearly blind and ineligible for military service due to it, even as a young man. Yet he decided to memorize the eye chart in the military entrance exam just so he could serve his country in World War One.

What a difference between one of the many fighting Democrats that actually served and the sissy Republicans we've got here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the nation at large too (our AWOL president, for example).

I've searched and searched for the shocking full story on the outing of Mitch McConnell, but all I can find are REFERRENCES to a shocking story on the outing of Mitch McConnel, not the actual shocking full story itself. Now I'm late going to pick up my pay check, I have to wait until two o'clock! Come on, where is it?! If it's just all hints and no story, like with Lindsey Graham and David Deier, why don't all these web sites just SAY SO, instead of referring maddeningly to "last week's outing of Mitch McConnell" cetra cetra? You're turning me into Adrian Monk here! Give me that story NOW! (Meant to say PLEASE.)

Since when has having a wife and children been proof for not being gay? Try that with Larry Craig's wife. Mitch has long been rumored to be a closet gay with preferences for younger men. I always figured that that kind of lifestyle, especially in one that has been so outspoken against gays, would eventually come out in the open. I think Mitch's power and the fear he generates among those he chooses as enemies, has kept these rumors at bay.... but now that his power is slipping, who knows? Any gilted lovers out there with some proof to old Mitch the Snitchs' leanings?
