Quote of the day: Oh, the horror! DWT readers imagine Rush using Viagra, and Helen Thomas vetoes the Bush method of spreading democracy

>

"I am having difficulty keeping my dinner down with the thought of Rush Limbaugh actually having a purpose to possess Viagra.

"Oh the horror."

—DWT reader Matt, echoed by a slew of other commenters

By comparison, you're only too happy to imagine your parents having sex. (Ouch, I'm blind!)

HONORABLE MENTION—
On the gap between Bush rhetoric and Bush performance

"You don't spread democracy with the barrel of a gun."

—veteran Washington correspondent Helen Thomas, to Jon Stewart on last night's Daily Show, promoting her new book, Watchdogs of Democracy? The Waning Washington Press Corps and How It Has Failed the Public

I watched Helen on with John Stewart last night and I had a feeling that the DWTQOTDC (on which I have no vote and have never been consulted) would use one of her quotes. There were several good ones, this being the best. Watching her made me think of the gratuitously vicious comments Iowa extremist Congressman Steve King (also a xenophobe, racist, bigot and general a-hole) made about Helen a week or two ago. Americans ought to contemplate Steve King and ask themselves if this is the kind of person they want representing them in congress.

Helen Thomas knows bulls%!t when she sees it as for Rush, what I find funny is that he NEEDS viagra at all. I thought Republicans were pull themselves up by the bootstraps macho individualists who don't need or want any help at all.

It appears old Rush is full of it as usual. I guess all that hate and bile does have an effect.

Hilarious.

I hope I'm not betraying a confidence here, but I want everyone to know that the commenter above, Peteratlarge, is none other than Peter Clothier, author of the wonderful new book, THE REAL BUSH DIARIES and blogger at The Bush Diaries. Check out his site.

Is this the same Helen who was featured in Colbert's "press conference audition" at the White House Correspondant's dinner? Wait a minute I checked wikipedia and the exchange between her and Colbert is apparently based on a real exchange between her and Bush: I'd like to ask you, Mr. President, your decision to invade Iraq has caused the deaths of thousands of Americans and Iraqis, wounds of Americans and Iraqis for a lifetime. Every reason given, publicly at least, has turned out not to be true. My question is: Why did you really want to go to war? From the moment you stepped into the White House, from your Cabinet -- your Cabinet officers, intelligence people, and so forth -- what was your real reason? You have said it wasn't oil -- quest for oil, it hasn't been Israel, or anything else. What was it?
Excellant!
